QIGONG - THE INTERMEDIATE STAGE

Tendon Changing and Marrow Washing Intensive.

The Tendon Changing and Marrow Washing Intensive is a qigong program that focuses on strengthening the muscular-skeletal system - tendons, bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, and spine. External strengthening forms the foundation of the cultivation and circulation of internal energy. Strong bones, articulate joints, flexible tendons and ligaments, and an aligned spine allow internal organs to receive maximum benefits in gathering and storing energy.

In this program, you will learn:

  •  The Eight Basic Wudang Warrior Qigong Forms. These qigong postures were used traditionally by the warrior Daoist monks of Wudangshan monastery to build muscular-skeletal strength and endurance for the practice of the martial arts. Used as a foundation for qigong, they are capable of building external strength in a short time.
  • How to apply the 12 Devas to gain tendon strength and elasticity, revitalize bone marrow, and build endurance by enhancing bone and tendon strength. You will also learn how to use the 12 Devas to facilitate the flow of sinovial fluids through the joints to repair injuries and prevent deterioration through aging.
  • How to apply selective breath-regulation forms from the Immortals’ Guide to Self-Massage and Breath Regulation and the Red Phoenix Calisthenics to control and direct internal energy toward healing and enhancing the muscular-skeletal system.
  • -The complete Jing Practice. Generative energy, or jing, is the key to building and maintaining marrow strength and density, bone mass, and sexual potency. It is also the foundation for advanced techniques of the internal alchemy in the transmutation of jing into qi (the vital energy).

Requirement: Qigong Level 5.

This program is required for the Animal Forms Intensive, Breath Regulation Intensive, and Standing Qigong Intensive.

Animal Forms Intensive.

Many Taoist qigong forms are derived from observing the behavior of animals and understanding how animals preserve, gather, transform, circulate, and store internal energy. The ancient Chinese shamans were the first to practice the art of “becoming” an animal to embody the power of that animal. The techniques of embodying animal energy were further developed by Taoist practitioners as ways of enhancing health and longevity.

The goal of this intensive is to train practitioners to embody the essence of the bones of the tiger, the tendons of the leopard, the spine of the snake and the dragon, and ability of the crane to channel energy to the head.

A new Wudangshan form, the Combined Five Animals, will also be introduced.

Requirement: Tendon Changing and Marrow Washing Intensive.

Note: Animal Forms Intensive may be taken back-to-back with the Tendon Changing and Marrow Washing Intensive.

This program is required for the Wudangshan Animals Long Forms.

The Wudangshan Five Animals Long Forms Intensive.

The Wudangshan Five Animals Long Forms are designed to enhance tendon-changing and marrow-washing practices using advanced stances and internal martial arts-based postures. Totaling 48 movements, these animal forms train the practitioner to use the Tiger Form to strengthen bones and tendons, the Leopard Form to develop spring-like qualities in the tendons, the Dragon Form to train spinal movement, the Snake Form to enhance spinal flexibility, and the Crane Form to focus qi to the top of the head.

Requirements: Tendon Changing and Marrow Washing Intensive and Animal Forms Intensive.

This program is required for Level 6.

Breath Regulation Intensive.

The regulation and control of the breath is the foundation for preserving, cultivating, storing, transforming, and circulating vital energy (qi).

In this program you will learn how to:.

- Use the breath to prepare, fill, and activate the alchemical bellows to drive the inner fire through the body.

- Move the breath up and down the spinal column to open blockages in the meridians.

- Engage the technique of Fish Breathing to swallow the breath into the lower dantien.

- Use Fetal Breathing to enhance the circulation and storage of qi.

You will also be introduced to the complete practice of Organ Cleansing. Organ Cleansing is the key to expelling toxins from the heart, liver, spleen, lungs, and kidneys as well as maintaining organ health for the storage of vital energy. It is also the foundation for advanced techniques of the internal alchemy in the transmutation of qi into shen.

Requirement: Tendon-Changing and Marrow-Washing Intensive.

This program is required for Qigong Level 6.

Standing Qigong Intensive.

After energy is stirred and circulated, a resting period is necessary for the energy to penetrate the muscular-skeletal system, the organs, the meridians, and the dantiens. Standing qigong provides the most effective forms that allow energy to rest and be absorbed deep inside the body.

In this program, intensive instruction will be given in three systems of Standing Qigong - The Yiquan Zhangzhuang method of Wang Xiangzhai, standing forms from Xiantianwujimen selected from the Immortals’ Guide to Self-Massage and Breath Regulation and the Red Phoenix Calisthenics, and the Wudangshan 12 Standing Postures.

In this program you will:.

- Receive intensive instruction in the 8 postures of Yiquan Zhangzhuang.

- Learn how to use standing forms of Xiantianwujimen to incubate internal energy after stirring and tumbling energy in the lower, middle, and upper dantiens.

- Learn how to use the 12 Wudangshan Standing Qigong Forms to create internal space and move energy through it.

Requirement: Tendon-Changing and Marrow-Washing Intensive.

This program is required for Qigong Level 6.
